Flatpack Works - Terms and Conditions of Service
Effective Date: 21.11.2025 These Terms and Conditions govern the provision of flatpack assembly and related services by Flatpack Works (ABN: 93 103 327 908) to the Client (you). By booking a service, you agree to be bound by these terms. 1. Fixed Price Service Agreement 1.1 Scope of Fixed Price The All-Inclusive Fixed Price provided to the Client includes: a. The base labor cost for assembling the item(s) as defined in the quote. b. Travel, call-out fee, and standard tool usage within the defined service area (Noosa to Caloundra). c. Full Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance coverage for the service duration. d. Any mandatory or optional surcharges agreed upon in the final quote (e.g., wall mounting, disposal). 1.2 Fixed Price Guarantee The fixed price quoted is final and will not change, unless one or more of the following conditions apply: a. The item provided is significantly different (size, number of components, brand complexity) from the item detailed in the original quote request. b. The assembly manual is not present, or essential parts/hardware are missing, requiring the technician to purchase replacements or requiring significant non-assembly labor time. c. The required work space (Section 2.2) is not adequately prepared upon arrival, causing a delay of more than 15 minutes. d. The information provided by the Customer regarding item complexity, access, or size was materially inaccurate (refer to 2.4). 1.3 Contract Formation (Booking Confirmation) The Customer agrees to these Terms and Conditions at the point of booking. Contract acceptance and confirmation of the service booking occur when the Customer performs any of the following actions in response to receiving the fixed-price quote: a. Replying 'YES' or 'CONFIRM' to a confirmation text message or email from Flatpack Works. b. Paying any requested deposit or booking fee. c. Clicking the 'Accept Quote' or 'Book Now' button within the electronic quotation system. Upon confirmation, the Customer warrants they have read, understood, and accept these Terms and Conditions, which remain in force before, during, and after the service is concluded. 1.4 Mandatory Surcharges a. For items over 120cm in height (e.g., wardrobes, bookshelves, chests of drawers), Wall Securing/Mounting is a mandatory safety requirement under Flatpack Works policy and will be added as a +$50 surcharge unless the Client explicitly signs a liability waiver on-site declining the service. 1.5 Right to Refuse Service Flatpack Works reserves the right to immediately cancel and refuse service to any Customer due to: a. Unsafe working environments (including excessive profanity, abuse, or harassment directed at the contractor). b. Situations where the Customer is rushing the service into a scenario that may cause damage or injury. c. Any items deemed hazardous, dangerous, or likely to contain vermin/pest. 2. Client Responsibilities and Preparation 2.1 Item Integrity The Client must ensure the items to be assembled are new, undamaged, and that all original parts and instructions are present. Flatpack Works is not responsible for defects, missing parts, or damaged components originating from the retailer. 2.2 Workspace and Access The Client must provide a clean, safe, and clear workspace large enough to assemble the furniture. The workspace must be free from breakables, pets, and children. If the site is unprepared, the technician reserves the right to charge for waiting time or reschedule the job. 2.3 Item Placement The fixed price covers assembly only. The moving of old furniture, unpacking, or placement of the assembled unit into its final location is the Client’s responsibility unless the specific surcharge for Old Unit Disassembly or an equivalent moving service was agreed upon in the final quote. 2.4 Accuracy of Information The Customer is responsible for the accuracy of all information provided to Flatpack Works (e.g., item details, access constraints, size, and weight of goods). Failure to provide accurate information may result in a variation of the quoted price (1.2) or cancellation of the job with a potential call-out fee charged. 2.5 Attendance The Customer, or a person authorised by the Customer (over 18 years old), should be present at the premises during the assembly service. 3. Liability, Damage, and Insurance 3.1 Damage during Assembly Flatpack Works takes full responsibility for any damage directly caused by the negligence or error of our technician during the assembly process. We are fully insured to cover the repair or replacement cost of the damaged item. 3.2 Pre-existing or Component Damage Flatpack Works is not liable for damage or failure resulting from: a. Defects, weak materials, or design flaws inherent to the furniture item itself. b. Damage that occurred during delivery or unpacking by the Client. c. Damage caused by the Client or a third party moving the assembled item after the technician has left the site. 3.3 Wall Mounting If wall mounting/securing is performed (either mandatory or optional), the Client must advise the technician of the exact location of any hidden pipes, wires, or services. While reasonable care is taken to avoid services, Flatpack Works will not be held liable for damage caused by drilling into services that were not explicitly disclosed by the Client prior to drilling. 3.4 Exclusions for Fragile/Sensitive Items (Owner's Risk) Due to the highly sensitive nature of these materials, the following items are assembled at the Owner's Own Risk: a. Any glass components. b. Televisions (if assembly involves connecting a base or mounting bracket). c. Items made entirely of plywood, particleboard, or low-density fibreboard (LDF). d. All IKEA furniture (due to the precision assembly requirements and lower material density). e. Any item whose value exceeds $500, unless the value was expressly disclosed to Flatpack Works prior to service commencing. The Client accepts that Flatpack Works is not liable for minor cosmetic damage, stress fractures, or component failure to these specific item types. 4. Payment and Cancellation 4.1 Payment Terms Payment for the full, final fixed price (including all agreed-upon surcharges) is due immediately upon completion of the assembly service. Payment can be made via direct transfer, cash, or credit/debit card on-site. The job is considered ongoing until full payment is received. 4.2 Cancellation and Rescheduling a. Cancellations made by the Client with less than 24 hours notice will incur a cancellation fee equivalent to 50% of the Tier 1 service charge ($54.50), unless the slot can be immediately filled by another booking. b. Rescheduling requests must be made with at least 12 hours notice. 4.3 Satisfaction Guarantee and Claims Process a. If the Client is dissatisfied with the quality of the assembly, Flatpack Works must be notified within 48 hours of service completion. We will return to the site free of charge to rectify any assembly errors to the Client's satisfaction. b. Mandatory Claim Notification: Any claim for damage to goods or property must be reported to the Flatpack Works head office BEFORE the technician leaves the premises. Failure to notify the contractor of visible damage before their departure will render the claim null and void, as the cause of the damage cannot be verified. 4.4 Debt Collection If full payment is delayed or requires external collection efforts, the Customer shall be liable for any associated costs, including debt collector fees, legal fees, and administrative time spent preparing the debt for collections. By proceeding with the booking, the Client acknowledges and accepts the terms outlined above.
